The situation and calls made to the SOS Poison telephone number (900 713 182), currently managed by GREFA, were presented. The convenience of calling 112 is also indicated. The status of the revision of the new Spanish Strategy Against the Illegal Use of Poisoned Bait in the Natural Environment, which MITECO intends to approve in April 2024, is presented. The FCQ exposes the actions carried out for the replacement of lead ammunition in Teruel and Avila within the project Life Corredores Ibéricos por el Quebrantahuesos, see news:

The FCQ comments on the preparation and sending of a letter to the Ministry of Health and Environment on the problem of lead during this month of April. Recalling that the Royal Decree 1057/2022, of the State Strategic Plan for Natural Heritage and Biodiversity to 2030, states that a regulation will be approved before 2025 to progressively eliminate the use of lead in fishing tackle and ammunition for big game hunting, throughout the national territory, and by 2030, at the latest, the elimination of lead will be extended to small game ammunition and sport shooting. Finally, the problematic use of Zinc Phosphide for rabbit and vole control in different Autonomous Communities is commented. The FCQ attaches a letter sent to the Government of Aragón in which it is stated that it is not a selective and highly toxic system. It is agreed that the rest of the NGOs send letters where this problem may exist.
