OUR HISTORY

The Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture (FCQ) was created in 1995 with the mission of promoting and developing biodiversity conservation projects in the mountain habitats where the bearded vulture lives.
Declared a public utility organization, it carries out management, research, environmental education, awareness, rural development and ecotourism activities.

In its beginnings, the FCQ worked on the knowledge of biology with the objective of achieving adequate management criteria that would allow the development of the Spanish mountains and the maintenance of their biological diversity to be balanced.
From its origins, the FCQ detected that the conservation of the bearded vulture species cannot be developed without taking into account the existing social interests in the mountains where it lives, so it also promotes environmental awareness campaigns and rural development projects.
In this way, and without leaving aside the biological work, the foundation has been incorporating new fields of work connected with the conservation of biodiversity, such as the fight against climate change and the search for sustainable economic models in rural areas.
It currently has different technical means to guarantee the achievement of the objectives foreseen in its constitutive statutes.
Over time, the foundation has increased the volume of projects, as well as the number of employees and sources of funding. The achievement of our small and large goals has been achieved through perseverance, good work, enthusiasm, training and self-education of its members. Also from some mistakes in experimental projects from which we have learned good lessons.
