Among the birds, through the Sierra de Partara.

More than forty people enjoyed this outing of Nabaín with the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture. More than forty people – mostly children – participated in the hiking and bird watching outing organized by the Nabaín Mountain Club, with the collaboration of the Bearded Vulture Conservation Foundation (Fundación para la Conservación del Quebrantahuesos). Only that which is valued is conserved and only that which is known is valued; and this was the objective of the activity we carried out last Sunday: to know our environment a little better, to value it and conserve it; and what better way to do it than, among family and friends, with the help of Álvaro González, biologist of the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture (FCQ), who contributed his knowledge in this organized outing. by the Nabaín Mountain Club.
At a quarter to ten in the morning, we gathered in Aínsa an important group of nature and mountain enthusiasts, more than forty of all ages, with the intention of spending a pleasant day, to share the experience of the day. e walk along some of the trails of the Sierra de Partara, to, with a little luck and some patience, discover and observe some of its inhabitants. The surprises were not long in coming: tawny owl and crow feathers, a blackcap, wild boar tracks, fox tracks and numerous griffon vultures, which ended up becoming the protagonists at the end of the day.
The activity concluded with a live feeding at the necrophagous bird feeder that FCQ has in the vicinity of Aínsa.
Thanks to Álvaro and the Foundation, we were able not only to understand the important role that necrophagous birds play in the ecosystem, but also to see, in first person, more than one hundred and fifty of these birds of prey feeding in front of us. It was a great joy to see how the interest, happiness and amazement were reflected in the faces of young and old, and how several of the attendees conveyed their enthusiasm to continue participating in this type of activities, which are undoubtedly one of the pillars of our Nabaín Mountain Club.
In short, a beautiful day that we want to repeat soon, to continue enjoying, learning and preserving, among family and friends, the wonderful nature of which we are all part.
To this end, the Natural Environment section of the Sobrarbe club is already organizing new initiatives, including mountain activities, talks and workshops.
A children’s workshop to make birdhouses, and their subsequent placement in the mountains of Boltaña, which will also have a monitoring of their occupation in the following months, will be the next appointment, on September 28.
Activities on geology, awareness or analysis of the environmental challenges of mountain areas, will also give them continuity within the cycle #BoletaNiaturaleza, in which the club, volunteers and speakers provide work, and the DPH (80%) and the City Council boltañés economic resources.
