MónNatura Pirineus Hosts the Closing Meeting of the Bio For Piri Project

On December 11 and 12, the partner organizations of the Bio For Piri project held their final in-person meeting at MónNatura Pirineus, located in the Pallars Sobirà region. This space, belonging to the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, the organization leading the project in coordination with the Bearded Vulture Conservation Foundation and four other entities, was chosen to host the closing meeting.

During these two days, the results of the actions undertaken within the framework of the project were shared, from its launch in March 2024 until December 2025. The organizations assessed the lessons learned and the impact of networking, which has been key in demonstrating that forest management is the best tool for making forests more resilient to the climate crisis. It was also confirmed that forests can generate high-value-added resources, such as wooden houses, which contribute to creating job opportunities for young people, fostering their connection to the region and helping to reverse rural depopulation.

The closing program combined technical workshops with outreach activities. On the first day, participants enjoyed an astronomical experience with the “Journey Through the Galaxies” activity at the MónNatura Pirineus Observatory, followed by the screening of the final videos of the project and the construction process of the “Forestone Cabin,” a prototype wooden house from the Alinyà Mountains, built within the framework of Bio For Piri.

The second day was dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the actions undertaken: from planning and preventative measures to sustainable forest management, silvicultural routes, conservation, the bioeconomy, silvopasture, training, and awareness-raising. Aspects of general coordination, technical and economic justification, and communication were also addressed. The day concluded with a discussion on future opportunities and a visit to the “Forstone Cabin,” located in MónNatura Pirineus.

Bio For Piri is supported by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
