Aínsa will save 24,000 euros a year in electricity with solar panels on two buildings.

The City Council of Aínsa-Sobrarbe will save more than 24,000 euros annually on its electricity bills after the two photovoltaic installations executed in the Municipal sports pavilion and in the warehouse, also of public ownership, located in the industrial estate.
The works have been made possible with a grant from the European Union’s Next Generation funds, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which covers 85% of a total investment of 143,106 euros. “Energy savings in municipal buildings is an imperative that we had to address as soon as possible, in tune with other actions that we are carrying out in the town and that aim to contribute to reducing our carbon footprint on the planet,” explains the mayor, Enrique Pueyo. “The replacement of lighting fixtures with energy-saving bulbs, as well as other actions, will be carried out by in, for example, our festive events with reusable cups, or the recovery of biodiversity in the environment of the hand of the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture, are part of the plan of the consistory to raise awareness and minimize, little by little, the human impact in our municipality.
The first of the photovoltaic installations for collective self-consumption is located on the roof of the municipal pavilion. It consists of 220 photovoltaic panels. The estimated annual production is 114,725.99 kWh and will generate energy not only for the pavilion but also for five other municipal supplies.
The company A&C Energy, in charge of the project, estimates that the savings will amount to more than 13,700 euros.
The second installation is located on the roof of the municipal warehouse building, in the industrial estate, and will produce electricity for this building and other supplies in the municipality.
It consists of 184 photovoltaic panels.
Its estimated annual production is 88,304.97 kWh and will represent an annual economic saving of around 10,600 €.
The aid granted is framed in the context of Royal Decree 692/2021, of August 3, which regulates the direct granting of aid for investments in unique local clean energy projects in municipalities with demographic challenges, within the Regeneration and Demographic Challenge Program of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
“It is the public institutions that have the commitment to lead by example and to demonstrate that energy saving is possible while respecting our natural environments,” concludes the mayor, “without the need for macro-projects and acting from the local level to make that essential energy transition also in rural areas.”
