27th session of the Board of Trustees of the Protected Landscape of San Juan de la Peña and Monte Oroel and the Natural Monument of Mallos de Riglos, Agüero and Peña Ruaba (Jaca, 13-2-2024).

Daniel Gómez (IPE-CSIC) renews his position as President of the Board of Trustees and new positions are appointed (among them J.A. Gil-FCQ representing environmental groups of Aragón and M. Polanco for the CPNA). It is commented that no subsidy (endowed with 250,000 € for all Aragón) has been granted to the Protected Natural Area (ENP) of Sa Juan (FEADER funds). With the new CAP programming, aid can only be given to non-productive activities. In relation to the investments made, the repair of the road to San Salvador stands out. The Chairman explains that the Biodiversity Foundation has granted a forestry bioeconomy project for 1.7 million Euros, in which actions will be carried out in the ENP of San Juan, some of them similar to those of a project which will also be developed in Sobrarbe and in which the FCQ participates. The budget forecast for 2024 is similar to that of previous years. It is said that with the Jacobean fund, an investment of 1.8 million Euros is foreseen for the inn. The ENP’s technical management comments that there are different actions, such as the access to the hostelry, which should be considered as a priority. In relation to the revision of the Plan for the Protection of the Protected Landscape (in force since 2014), a working group was set up in which M. Polanco will be representing the environmental groups.) The Head of the ENP Service comments that the guidelines of the Natura 2000 Network Management Plans must be incorporated into this document. Finally, the FCQ informs that the Haribo company has bought 2000 hectares within the ENP and that it would be convenient for the ENP’s Management to contact the owner.
