Pro-Sobrarbe: Production, Promotion and Biodiversity. Project to be developed in the Sobrarbe Region between 2019 and 2022 and involving: Aínsa-Sobrarbe Town Council, FCQ, Arto-Un Paso Atrás Association, Turismo Verde Huesca and Asociación Altoaragonesa de Selección de la Abeja Negra (ASAN).
The aim of the project is to improve the competitiveness and economic viability of beekeeping and agricultural farms by adapting their production techniques to more sustainable ones and achieving added value through the promotion of local and organic products.
It is essential to maintain the honeybee population, a key animal for both honey production and pollination of crops such as apple trees.
In particular, the selection and preservation of the Iberian black bee.
In addition, to improve the competitiveness of farms, farmers and beekeepers must be trained and advised on sustainable and organic production techniques, as well as the creation of a collective organic certification.
Therefore, the project is framed within the scope of cooperation for the efficient management of natural resources and inputs, for organic food production and marketing, and for the improvement of animal health.
To achieve added value, it is not only necessary to produce more sustainable or ecological products, but also to create brands that promote regional and/or ecological products; as well as the creation of points of sale of these products and the realization of various awareness and dissemination activities (carried out by the FCQ).
For this reason, the present project also falls within the scope of cooperation between agents of the agri-food chain for the development and promotion of short distribution chains and local markets.
