Complaints in the Patronato de Ordesa about the subsidy for the works in Góriz.
The representatives in the Board understand that the granting of this aid to the FAM “has meant that other initiatives of the territory are left without funding”. Representatives of the groups for the conservation of nature and the Alto Ara Business Association have shown at the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of Ordesa National Park held on Tuesday their disagreement with the provisional award of 727,380 euros to the Aragonese Mountaineering Federation (FAM) for the expansion and completion of works in the mountain refuge of Góriz. Their complaints are based on the fact that these works, which will begin in April,“have no place in the object and purpose” that defines the call for the Order of aid financed with Next Generation funds of the European Union. The representatives in the Board of Trustees disagree that the granting of this aid to the FAM “has meant that other initiatives in the territory are left without funding, since 61% of the 1,194,000 euros of the total has been granted to the Federation”. Eleven other entities and institutions have received financial support and the requests of six have been left on a reserve list, In addition, they raise a possible“conflict of interest” because the president of the outgoing Board of Trustees, Modesto Pascau, “is a member of the board of the FAM and shareholder of Prames (company that will undertake the works)”. However, they point out that he has not participated in the aid instruction process. The Alto Ara Business Association appealed the provisional resolution, but its request was rejected. Now, together with the representatives of the conservationist groups, they are considering appealing the final ruling. They do not rule out litigation.
