PRIZES AND AWARDS RECEIVED

The bearded vulture is one of the few threatened species of the Iberian fauna that has experienced such a considerable increase and recovery. Both the actions linked to conservation biology and those linked to environmental education and rural development are considered to be of high quality and have been valued as such by the 21 awards and prizes awarded:

  • In 1998 he was awarded the first Félix de Azara prize from the Provincial Council of Huesca for his work in the province of Huesca.
  • In 2000, it was awarded an honorable mention in the National Environment Award, awarded by the Ministry of the Environment.
  • Year 2001, First national prize from the Natura Selection store chain for its project “Borda: Initiatives for Rural Development through Nature Conservation”.
  • Year 2001: the Félix de Azara prize (NGO modality) was awarded by the Provincial Council of Huesca, for the environmental education campaign “Get to know the Nature of Aragon” in which the FCQ remains in agreement with the Government of Aragon and the Immaculate Box.
  • Year 2001: 1st Aragonia prize from the Aragonese Society of Natural Sciences.
  • Year 2002: The Pueyo de Araguás City Council received the Félix de Azara award (local entities modality) together with the FCQ, for the rural development and nature conservation project “Borda Project”.
  • Year 2004: The Zaragozana company was awarded together with the FCQ, Félix de Azara in the company category by the Provincial Council of Huesca for its “Especies Green” dissemination campaign.
  • Year 2004: European Parks Day, May 24 “NATURA 2000”. Third Prize awarded by EUROPARC-Spain and the Savings Banks Foundation (FUNCAS), for the project entitled: Support for Extensive Sheep Farming in the Peña Montañesa (Cotiella-Sierra de Ferrera SPA). Award received by the Pueyo de Aragüas City Council and the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture.
  • Year 2005: Accesit from the insurance company Maphre-Finisterre for the Ideas contest for its project “Borda: Initiatives for Rural Development through Nature Conservation”.
  • Year 2006: Félix de Azara Award (non-profit entity modality) awarded by the Provincial Council of Huesca, for the environmental education campaign “Our climate is everyone’s business”.
  • Year 2008: “Caja España Medio Ambiente 2008” Award for the project “Specific supplementary feeding program for bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) breeding units in Aragon”.
  • Year 2008: “MILANO 2008” ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD. Awards from the Independent Association of Journalists, Writers and Professionals 2008.
  • Year 2009: Europarc Spain-Funcas prize for the guided tour project to disseminate the Bearded Vulture Recovery Plan in Aragon.
  • Year 2013: Aragón Environment Award, non-profit entities modality.
  • Year 2014: AECCA Award (Spanish Association of Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey).
  • Year 2014: Award in Defense of Nature from the Jaulín City Council (Zaragoza), XXXIII edition.

  • Year 2020: 2nd Prize “Impulso Solidario” from the Ibercaja Foundation.
  • Year 2020: 1st Prize from the European Commission for the contribution to socioeconomic development in areas of the Natura 2000 Network, through the Pro-biodiversity guarantee mark.   • Year 2023: 1st Prize for Good Local Practices for Biodiversity, to the Aínsa-Sobrarbe City Council and the FCQ for their project on management of the Natura 2000 Network in the aforementioned municipality within the framework of the custody agreement. Awarded by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
  • Year 2024: 1st Prize from the program El Escarabajo Verde on Spanish Radio Television (RTVE) as a private or public entity dedicated to nature conservation for its career. Third edition of the El Escarabajo Verde documentary program awards.
  • Year 2024: CONAMA Award (National Environmental Congress), 2nd Second Place for municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants for the AINSA-SOBRARBE ECOCIRCULAR project: Comprehensive and circular management of livestock production to improve the use of natural resources, sustainable tourism and biodiversity. Granted to the Aínsa City Council for the project developed by the FCQ within the framework of the territory custody agreement between both institutions.
